About Espace Formaline: Espace Formaline is (Physically) the longest offspace of Switzerland, with the length of over 300 meters containing 17 display cases. It is an independent art space run by artists. Positioned next to a busy road and a train line, it turns public space into an unexpected meeting point between art and commuters. The name Formaline comes from Forming-a-Line, given the usual traffic in front of the cases; and the embalming fluid Formaldehyde, commonly known as formaline, making hint to Preserving the local art scene. The cases are not placed symmetrically and the insides of the cases measure each 93×70×9 centimeters without any access to electricity. Who can apply? Swiss and international artists and collectives who are interested in engaging with public space in new ways and working in any medium suitable for the display cases’ format. How to apply? Send the following documents in one PDF file not larger than 10MB to espaceformaline@gmail.com: Portfolio (Maximum 10 works) Project proposal (Maximum 1000 words, also needs to mention the number of display cases needed for your proposal) Artist statement & CV For international artists: Please note that the artist’s presence is required by the space during the vernissage. We do provide an artist fee, but it is up to the artist to plan their stay in Switzerland accordingly.
